Tom became a real estate licensee in 2000 and currently holds a broker license in Alabama and Florida, and a real estate instructor license in Alabama.  Presently Tom is the School Administrator and Instructor at the Capital Real Estate School in Montgomery, AL and Qualifying Broker and owner of OurTown Realty, LLC.  Tom teaches Pre – Post License courses, CE and designation courses.  Tom obtained his B.A. from Florida Southern College, M.A. from The University of Georgia, and an Ed.D. from Auburn University.  Tom’s professional experience prior to real estate includes graduate instruction at Syracuse University, The University of Georgia, and Auburn University, multi-national corporate management and sales training, and non-profit foundation management.  Tom is a native of Florida and has lived from Rochester, NY to Havana, Cuba.  He is married to Donna Marietta and they have a blended family of five adult children, ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two Westies.

Jere Whitehouse

Jere Whitehouse has continually distinguished himself with awards and honors throughout his successful real estate career of over 35 years, all in the Montgomery, Alabama, area. Prior to his affiliation with Montgomery Metro Realty, Jere worked with other major real estate companies and was consistently the top agent out of three offices and over 80 agents. In 1997, in addition to earning the Top Agent Award for the year, he also earned the prestigious “Ed Lowder Award” for Excellence in service to his clients and his leadership within the company. Jere has held his Broker License since 1984.

IN EARLY 2012, Jere took the step to become better equipped to assist homeowners who were facing the possibility of foreclosure. In May, Jere finished the training to become a CDPE. Certified Distressed Property Expert. As a CDPE, Jere has the experience, and the tools, to help homeowners in the areas of pre-foreclosure and short sales. The CDPE also equips Jere to better assist Buyers who are looking to short sale purchases.

IN ADDITION to helping home buyers and sellers, Jere is also an Alabama Real Estate Commission Certified Instructor. Jere’s passion is real estate and he enjoys mentoring and helping new agents.

Jessica Avant

For nearly 10 years, Jessica has brought out the best in trainees while succeeding in retail management. She decided to take that leadership to the real estate industry to revolutionize the industry’s training services. Her classroom experience for students sparks creativity, maximizes potential, and redefines what learning looks and sounds like.

Now, a state-wide presenter and instructor, Jessica specializes in helping students identify their individual sales personality and integrate the key practices needed to engage and impress consumers. She is a proud graduate of Alabama State University. She serves as Associate Broker at Residential Alabama, co-chair of Montgomery Area Association of REALTOR’s Education Committee, Vice President of Central Alabama’s National Association of Real Estate Brokers, and an active member in Alabama Real Estate Educators Association. Jessica has her Graduate REALTOR Institute (GRI) designation, NAR’s Commitment to Excellence (C2EX), and is a Certified Distance Education Instructor (CDEI).

Jessica is married to Jonathan Avant; together, they have two daughters and two fur babies. When Jessica is not working, she finds the greatest joys in traveling with family, listening to podcasts, reading books, and discovering new artists.
